DESCRIPTION

Chitin and Chitosan: Opportunities & Challenges is the first book in Asia on the topic of polysaccharides obtained from the exoskeleton of crustacean shells, and outer part of fungi and algae. The purpose of the book is to encourage the research in chitin science and to aware about its uses to the scientific community. The researchers in the field of chemical sciences and engineering, materials science and engineering, medical science and technology, physical sciences, environmental science and engineering, biological sciences, biochemical engineering, biotechnology, earth sciences can use this book as a reference for waste to useful/value added material in their respective professions. In this edited volume consisting of eighteen chapters contributed by different experts world wide, namely, from Italy, Brazil, Japan, China, the United States of America, Canada, and India. The book describes the genesis of chitin science to the multifaceted applications in diversified fields. All these important and significant information will be very much useful for the beginners of chitin science. Lastly, the importance of this book has been enhanced by the valuable and thought-provoking foreword of Professor R.A.A.Muzzarelli, the pioneer of Chitin Science in Europe.
